President Obama’s Waterboarding Memo Releases Were 100% Political

How do I know this?

Simple: we classify information to protect one of two things: Sources and methods.

By releasing the memos, President Obama already decided to let everyone know both source (the terrorists, like KSM) and the methods (waterboarding).

There’s nothing left to protect.

So why doesn’t he release the facts on what valuable information was gained from the waterboarding?  Why doesn’t he release the facts on what plots were actually foiled due to information gained from the waterborading?

Why, if not for political benefit for himself and Democrats?

Why?

  1. Y’know, I’m kinda sick of this waterboarding thing being beaten into the ground. Officially torture methods should never be sanctioned, and usually aren’t even necessary. But there are at times extreme circumstances, with extreme people, and extreme danger to innocent lives involved. In those times, perhaps a “don’t ask, don’t tell” approach would be appropriate. I hope we can all discern the difference between getting crucial information out of a terrorist in a limited time frame (the nuke going off in an hour scenario) and genuine atrocities like the My Lai massacre.

Truth Commission would be the best way to get to the bottom of things. Otherwise, Obama should release all the information available.
