Poverty-Stricken in the US

I scored major points over a liberal once when I pointed out (having heard it somewhere else) that the US is the first time/place in history where those hit hardest by poverty are also those with the biggest obesity problem.

A few years ago, a woman on welfare in Seattle complained about the imposition of a $5 fee for health care.  She caused a small uproar when she stated on the record that it might force her to have to cancel either her internet or her cell phone.  (I can’t find a link to that news article…if anyone else can help me out with that, I’d appreciate it)

Well, here’s another metric: even our homeless have cell-phones w/ cameras.

Only in the US, folks.

  1. This silly liberal (although not democrat, on the fence there), is totally in agreement. If you can pay X amount of dollars for a cell phone, put it down, cancel the service and by yourself some food!

I guess the only positive thing I can say is it is more expensive to eat than to have a cell phone. Positive for someone so stupid as to pay for a cell phone, when they need food!
